2010 Aspirations
We have all fallen victims to the New Year’s Resolution trap! They rarely work and from the majority of anecdotes I have read, they merely pay lip service true dedication and commitment.
In spite of or despite the failure of my own annual self-promises in the past, I have decided to post a little list of things I would like to see accomplished in 2010: -
Solutions that work
All too often I will come up with a great idea that just isn’t practical. It seems as if I’m not the only one with this problem. Just take a look at any government.
Maintaining Strength
As we get a little bit older, we get weaker. My personal desire is to get stronger mentally as well as physically, in addition to maintaining the great personal characteristics I’ve already cultivated
Openness
Fear makes us weak. It also makes us narrow-minded and leads us down a blinkered path of monotony. Being more open and receptive to different cultures and places is a good thing.
Dedication
It’s easy to do something you love but much harder to stay dedicated when it feels as if no one is paying the least bit of attention.
Will I even come close to achieving these goals? I think I can. At the very least I believe that in trying one will become more defined and aware of our surroundings.
Let me hear all of your targets for 2010. Do you think that you can be successful or are you as convinced, as I am that these types of plans always go slightly awry?

I think that the main reason that most people fail when setting these New Year’s resolutions, is that what ever these people are trying to accomplish, they are not reading to do it!
I for one don’t recall a New Year’s resolution, that I have kept to. I simply stop making them. People make resolutions, because they want to change something about themselves. Is the first of the year the best time to really do that? I don’t think so. It can be an overwhelming time. The holidays of the end of the year are meant to be enjoyed and not meant to force change upon ones self.
You want a time when you have cleared your thoughts as well as when your not stressed or surrounded by people.
I have had far better success at quitting smoking when I was ready than time after time trying to quit on New Years. It’s just not an opportune time for most people, it seems to me.
I quit smoking back in July of 09 on the 3rd week. I was at a point where I had plenty of time to think it over, but most importantly, there was no date attached, no special occasion, I did it my way, and I did it when I was ready. I’m still smoke free and that’s to say it’s not an easy goal. But I’ve just done better at reaching my goal by not setting them as New Years resolutions.
I have many things that I want to work on to better myself. I will continue to think about some of these and act upon them when I’m ready and see them fit. New Year’s is another day and for me it’s a day of relaxation.
