An Anecdote About Sneezing

I happen to be one of those unfortunate human beings who suffers miserably from hayfever. I usually end up sneezing uncontrollably with tears streaming down my face.

It does seem be hereditary with me because I can relate many personal anecdotes about my mother having sneezing fits all Summer long when I was younger and still living in the UK.

I have been referred to so many remedies that I am somewhat confused. However I really don’t want to try any chemical solutions unless they are natural ones.

This Summer I planned on trying out a natural remedy called Butterbur but the side effects have made me very wary. So I’m just going to eat well, stay away from caffeine and other products known to worsen hayfever.

Unfortunately I have already started sniffling and Spring has barely started. Wish me luck!

Spring Anecdote

Spring is here and the living is easy. Today feels like the first day of Spring in Mystic and I am falling in love with my little town all over again.

I have always liked the differing seasons and would find it hard to adjust to life in a place where it was always hot or always cold. That said it is true that in mid Winter my body aches for the Sun’s warmth and the longer daylight hours.

As nice as the weather is today, Spring usually has an intemperate climate because of the warm air pushing it’s way up from the southern regions whilst cold air is still coming in from the North.

Still it ushers in a period of new growth and births. It is a time of renewal and fresh starts. Spring is the very definition of the word anecdote. It is the precursor to Mother Nature’s real main event, Summer, of course!

$365 Anecdote about Food

So recently I checked out this blog, linked from the MSN home page and was intrigued by what I found.

It interests me to see how people come up with weird and different blogging ideas. This one made a bigger than normal impression because I am always trying to find new ways to save money.

Having said all that, I recently came to the realization that food and good, fresh food in particular is more important that anything else one might purchase from day to day. My health was suffering at one point because of how much prepackaged foods I was eating. Spending those extra few dollars on fresh ingredients has been more than worth it.

So as much as I admire this person’s endeavor to save money by going on this year long sabbatical from more expensive foods, I fear for their health. We all go through times where we need to cut back but I sincerely hope that they don’t sacrifice their health in the attempt to save a few bucks.

An Anecdote about Recycling

As we live in a business/residential area our landlord wasn’t forced by law to recycle paper. This is something that has completely baffled me for the two and a half years we have lived here.

Just the other day whilst we were taking down the plastic and glass recyclables we noticed a paper recycling bin! Finally we can feel good about taking out the rubbish out. It was a thorn in my flesh when I found out that there were no paper recycling places within a reasonable distance from our place.

Luckily we don’t use that much paper and so my conscience hasn’t been too damaged in the process. Recycling has become an integral part of our lives. Being able to control the amount of waste we deliver to landfills and recycling as much of the stuff we do use, gives me a good sense of purpose.

Dying Young

It seems as if this year has ushered in the untimely deaths of many young people – and we are only two months into the year…

My life like many others has been touched by the death of family members all too early it seems. It’s can be extremely difficult to digest and come to terms with these types of tragedies.

It is practically impossible to prepare oneself for these extreme anomalies. The best that one can do is try to celebrate the less than expected time we had with them and try to enhance memories that will help one to come to terms with the devastation.

Yesterday Corey Haim died at thirty-eight years young. May his soul rest in peace along with all the others who passed this year all too early…

Anecdote Definition

An anecdote is often a short story or explanation of an event. Anecdotes are a story of a particular incident but from a personal viewpoint.

They can be serious, but are often told with a humorous twist. Writing great anecdotes is not easy, because of their sheer simplicity and wide scope of reference.

The best thing about anecdotes is that they are short and succinct, making them more exciting and straight forward. We encourage you to view some of the examples here and try your hand at developing your style.
