1969 – Remember Pele? The soccer player or the footballer? He scored his one-thousandth goal on this day in history. The Mets were celebrating their first World Series Win too!
1979 – Baseball player Ryan Howard is born. This is the same year that the Pittsburgh Pirates won the World Series with one of my favorite all time sluggers, Willie Stargell.
